Coming back to TAMAN PELANGI, Johor. Taman Pelangi is located right across the JOHOR BAHRU CIQ CUSTOM COMPLEX. The first MRT to Roll into JB from WOODLAND in 2019 probably ends near here. And beside Taman Pelangi is the EASTERN DISPERSAL LINK (EDL) which link to the North-south Highway.
IT IS SEAMLESS CONNECTION ALL THE WAY NORTH TO KL, THEN THAILAND and ONE DAY IN THE FUTURE ALL THE WAY TO CHINA. Really? Why not?
LOOKING FOR GOOD FOOD?
One of the secret in hunting for good eating places is to drive around with your eyes open. Look for the place with the most diners. The more people the better. Better still if there is a long queue waiting.
It shows that the Food On Offer must be very special – in taste, quality. uniqueness or freshness. Or the prices must be very cheap or at least reasonable enough to draw in the crowd.
PELANGI CENDOL & FRUIT ROJAK (HALAL)
One such place is the Hawker Center in Jalan Biru 3. Every day there is an endless stream of customers from 9am till 5pm. The crowd gets bigger on Saturday and Sunday due to the increased presence of Singaporeans. Be patient, as they will attend to you shortly even if it’s crowded.
There are 3 stores selling Cendol. The best is the Corner one facing the AZHAR MINIMART. I like the ginko nut soup. They give a very generous serving of ginko nuts. They give such a Big portion of ginko nuts for such a reasonable price. Sometimes I wonder if they do make any money out of selling.
PELANGI SANLOW SEAFOOD (Non halal)
On any given Friday, Saturday or Public Holidays you will find a great crowd of happy diners here. The place is open from 5 pm to 1 am. The seafood is delivered fresh by water tanks in lorry daily. (No frozen grouper kept in deep freezer for 8 months. Some other eating places add lots of spices to cover the blend taste of imported deep freezed seafood.) SANLOW is well known for genuine FRESH SEAFOOD with all its natural flavour.
That’s why the crowd seems to get bigger and bigger over the years. The ambience is also good. Eating here is like banqueting in a Wedding dinner. Although you dine individually by your own group, it appears to be a wedding party collectively from the outside; with so many tables filled with so many people on a Weekend night.
So many people means so many more cars. Therefore parking is a problem. On both sides of Jalan Biru Main Road are long line of cars parked on any Friday & Saturday evening.
Well, diagonally across SANLOW is a Car Wash place called PELANGI CAR WASH. Again the prices here are very reasonable. Rm8 for a car and Rm12 for an MPV. It’s a real bargain in JB CBD.
Like BANGSAR in early 1990s, single storey houses are now going for between Rm250k to slightly over Rm300k.
6 months ago Single Storey houses 24 x 86 feet were ALL SOLD OUT (non bumi lot) in One Day at a Property Soft Launch. Price? A new high of Rm300,800. Location? TAMAN PELANGI INDAH IN ULU TIRAM! PELANGI BERHAD will be launching a new phase of smaller size single storey houses (24 x 80 feet) in TAMAN PELANGI INDAH at an increased price of $380,000. (A jump of 26%). If prices continue to escalate like this and house prices in TAMAN PELANGI Downtown still stay depesssed, it is time for the wise investors to pick up a few bargains. Who knows, one day, like BANGSAR KL, prrices here will also cross the Rm1 million mark. Then it will come true “THAT THERE IS A POT OF GOLD AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW”.
